This body of work illustrates the diversity of humanity and the melting pot of cultures that make up South Africa, the Rainbow Nation.
Despite our differences, our inequalities, and origins, this series explores how we can come together as "One" human race. Whilst our uniqueness and life experiences continually shape who we are, we can learn from and inspire one another to be better for the greater collective.
Wayne Bks is an award-winning Cape Town-based graffiti artist and digital art illustrator. He started becoming active in graffiti around 2001, focusing on letter forms and style writing. In 2014 he adopted the line work style that characterises a large part of his works, creating comic style characters with geometric patterns and a labyrinth of lines that is both simplistic and complex at the same time.
Public commissions include an extensive project for MyCiti bus stations, while clients like Samsung, Woolworths and Converse are just a few on a long list of past and present clients.
The “One” Artboardz series will be located in the Woodstock-Salt River area. Woodstock is an artisanal playground for creatives brimming with workshops, craft breweries and weekend markets and many walls adorned with urban art just outside Cape Town’s CBD!
Salt River is a mixed-use development with creative spaces for retail, cafes, studios as well as The Art Bank's very own Cardano Center that is breaking ground in Q1 2023.
The African continent is fast emerging as a major centre of contemporary art. Baz-Art was founded in November 2016 with the primary objectives of creating a platform for street artists to make a living from their art and regulating the industry. We aspired to become the most prominent street art platform in Africa by producing art in public spaces while meeting the marketing demands of our clients.
Every year we pride ourselves on new achievements in the local and international public art scenes. We have travelled across the continent from Johannesburg to Accra, bringing colour to public spaces, and have had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most renowned street artists and brands. In February 2017, we proudly hosted Africa’s first annual International Public Art Festival.
